Soo…this is my new project. BEHOLD.
What I plan to do here is essentially review the stuff I read or watch, and like the nerd I am, occasionally do the whole literary analysis and maybe compare one work to the other. Sorry, I’m an English major, I can’t help it.
I have several papers posts in mind so far, so I’m looking forward to getting to those.
On occasion I may have some guest reviewers when I feel lazy (Kokoro-chan has already offered~) and if anyone wants to be a guest reviewer, feel free to contact me and ask.
For a tentative list of what I intend on writing about, keep reading below~
Novels:
- Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
- Twisted by Laurie Halse Anderson
- A Seperate Peace by John Knowles
- East of Eden by John Steinbeck
- The Brief and Wonderous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz
- American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang
- The Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri
- The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie
- Feed by M.T. Anderson
- Microserfs by Douglas Coupland
- Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah by Richard Bach
- Probably some Ayn Rand novels
- Most likely some Shakespeare works
Anime:
- Gundam Wing (how could I not)
- Princess Tutu
- Wolf’s Rain
- Cowboy Bebop
- Samurai Champloo
- Axis Powers Hetalia
- Darker than BLACK
- Code Geass
- Eden of the East
- Ghost Hunt
- Neon Genesis Evangelion (even though I’d rather not)
- Death Note (manga or anime, whichever I get to first)
- Definitely some Studio Ghibli stuff
As you can see, my lists are still on the short side, so they’ll definitely get longer as time goes on and once I read/watch new stuff. I’m not including a manga list at this time since I’m not so sure if I’ll be writing about the manga I read or not. If I do write about a manga it’ll probably beĀ sporadicĀ and from a spontaneous decision. We’ll see.
My first literary post will probably be a comparison of the anime Eden of the East with its novel counterpart, East of Eden. Just need to finish plowing through the novel. Look forward to it!
(For those who know what the title of this post refers to…yes, I know. I’m hopeless. I did say I was a nerd.)
Good luck with your blog! I’ll be looking forward to your future posts, particularly the Darker than BLACK and Code Geass ones~
I don’t know what the title of this post refers to DDD: But I think I’ll take a guess and say that it refers to Starcraft? =X
lmao, yes it does D:
i’ll probably be comparing darker than BLACK with other apocalyptic animes i’ve seen like evangelion (UGH), nausicaa of the valley of the wind and maybe some apocalyptic novels, though i can’t recall any that i’ve read at this time.
i need to finish watching code geass x_x;;
-pokepoke-
Took a look at your blog Kimmy =D Looks good.
For Death Note I recommend the manga over the anime. I attempted to watch the anime and failed >__>
Ah~ I see some Laurie Halse Anderson books up on your list, and a few others I’ve read =D
I need to watch Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind sometime….
-disappears~-
So, I have a question, can we request stuff for you to analyze? Since it seems like you have no time to be reading, I want to request that you do a film analysis of the male-female power dynamics and symbolics in the movie: Doubt
Also of the Nun (Meryl Strep’s character) of what kind of a character she is. Also maybe looking at the use of the bible and being a nun and a priest.
Requirements:
min word count: 1,000
max word count: 2,500
Two sources minimal!
Does that make sense? ^.^ Hope so <3
LOL
Chibi-chan, are you trying to get Tomo-chan to do your assignment for you? Or do you derive some sort of pleasure from giving her homework? XDDD
j/k =X
